(i)GDP
In 2005, The GDP of Hebei province reached 1,009.61 billion yuan, of which the primary, secondary and tertiary industries were RMB 150.31 billion yuan锛孯MB 523.25 billion yuan and RMB 336.05 billion yuan respectively and per capita was RMB 14,782 yuan. In the tertiary industry, social service銆乻cience research and comprehensive technology service and so on were developing dramatically, realizing an added value of RMB 144.21 billion yuan, which were served as new bright spots to the development of service industry.

(ii)Resources, Industry, and Agriculture
Resources
Hebei Province, with 6,441.5 thousand hectares of cultivated land, one million hectares of total coastal area and more than two hundred different species of marine organisms, serves as an important base of aquatic products in north part of China. Hebei is also among the major Provinces with rich mineral resources in China. At present, 151 types of minerals have been discovered, one hundred and twenty types of mineral reserves have been ascertained, and fifty-one minerals reserves are taking the top ten places in mainland. Heibei Province boasts complete and adequate resources of energy, mainly as reserves of coal, petroleum and natural gas .The coal resources, which is with great reserve, fine quality and full in range, has been proven with reserves of 17 billion tons and assured reserves of 15.6 billion tons. The adequate petroleum and natural gas reserves are mainly distributed in Jizhong, Dagang and Jidong oil fields. The proven reserves of petroleum amount to 1.7 billion tons, ranking the 5th place in the state and the geological reserves of natural gas reached 42 billion cubic meters. The other energy resources as waterpower, terrestrial heat and wind energy source have also got developed to certain degree. The minerals resources are widely spread and present a complete distribution system which provide favorable conditions for establishing iron and steel industries, building materials industries and chemical industries bases in large scales and for developing coal chemical, salt chemical and petrochemical industries.
Industry
All of the industrial added value is RMB 466.52 billion yuan in 2005, with the profi t of RMB 69.04 billion yuan. High-tech industries maintained rapid growth, with the added value of 22.975 billion yuan.

Agriculture
Hebei, serving as one of the key bases of grain, cotton, oil, vegetables and fruits in North China, the total agricultural acreage amounts to 8,785,500 hectares in 2005 with major crops ranging from wheat, corn, coarse cereals, cotton, oil plants to vegetables and fruits. The output of dairy industry marched greatly, and that of meat, poultry and egg was developed steadily. There were newly planted trees of 305,000 hectares and the fishery made an rapid progress with an annual output of 989,000 tons.
(iii) Business
Foreign Trade
The total value of import & export in Hebei is USD 16.07 billion in 2005, with imports value of USD 5.14 billion; exports exceeded USD 10 billion, reaching USD 10.93 billion. Exporting commodity structure had been further optimized. Industrial fi nished products exports reached USD 8.99 billion, accounting for 82.3% of total exports in Hebei.
Foreign Investment
The actual utilization of foreign investment in 2005 was USD 2.28 billion, of which foreign direct investment was USD 1.91 billion, the projects with investment above USD 5 million took 83.8% of total provincial foreign direct investment. Newly approved projects were 577 with total foreign investment value of USD 2.53 billion. Currently, there actually are 3,789 sino-foreign joint ventures, sino-foreign cooperative enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises.
Foreign Cooperation and Technology Introduction
Hebei made a great progress in foreign economic and technology cooperation. In 2005, 152 contracts for foreign economic and technology cooperation, with total contracted capital of USD 1.11 billion, were signed, achieving a turnover of USD 570 million,and the exporting services were 8,571 persons. Hebei introduced 4,802 items of technologies and 45,000 talents.
Circulation of Commodities
The Jing - Jin - Ji Economic Zone consisting of Beijing , Tianjin and Hebei, with a consumer group of nearly 120 million and capturing more than 10% of the overall market capacity in the mainland, is one of the markets with the largest capacity in China. Hebei Province not only acts as the center of commodity circulation for Northeast, Northwest and the North regions of China to connect with the鈥 The Three North鈥 regions, but also serves as an important passage to sea for the 鈥淭he Three North鈥 regions. There are as many as 4,107 merchandise markets within Hebei Province , ranking among the top positions in China.The Total Retail Sales of Consumer Goods is RMB 295.29 billion yuan. There are 240 markets with the Retail Sales of Consumer Goods exceeding RMB 100 million yuan, 46 markets exceeding RMB one billion yuan and three markets exceeding RMB 10 billion yuan. The Xinhua Fair Market, Nansantiao Merchandise Market and some other four merchandise markets are among the National Top 100. The famous Baigou Suitcase & Bag Market, Anguo Chinese Medicine Market, Xinji Leather Products Market, Qinghe Cashmere Market and the Anping Wire Mesh Market are well-known markets in China and even the rest of the World. Supermarket chain stores, logistics and services are developing rapidly as the new rising businesses.
