Jiang Jiemin, president of China’s largest producer of oil and gas, China National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC), met with Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday. During the meeting, Jiang Jiemin stated his company’s commitment to increase investment in Indonesia. President Susilo welcomed CNPC’s plan, saying that he has asked all government officials concerned to facilitate the inflow of investment to Indonesia.
Also present at the meeting were Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lan Lijun, CNPC’s Assistant to Vice President Wang Dongjin and PetroChina Indonesia President Wei Zhigang.
Previously, CNPC’s delegation met on Friday morning with Indonesia’s Energy Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, who has also promised to improve the investment climate in the country’s energy sector.
At present, Petro China, a subsidiary of CNPC, has already invested US$ 500 million in Indonesia to develop eight oil and gas fields.
