Proposed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and co-sponsored by the Ministries of Commerce / Trade of China, 10 ASEAN countries and ASEAN Secretariat, the China-ASEAN Expo is a very important and unique trade fair, which is held in Nanning, China every year in October.
Referring to the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo, the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat has the honor to announce the latter of the following:
I. Time, Venue & Scope
Time: October 19-22, 2005
Venue: Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center, Guangxi
Scope: 15 exhibition pavilions are furnished, with a raw exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, enough to set up 3,000 international standard booths (see Annex 2 for details). Out-door raw space takes over 26,000 square meters, enough to offer 500 international standard booths (see Annex 3 for details).
II. Themes & Contents
Four themes will be covered, including the national theme, themes of commodity trade, investment & cooperation, and tourism.
1. The National Theme
The subject of the National Theme of CAEXPO is “cities of charm”, the specific promotion for China and ASEAN countries. A typical city will be promoted by each of the above countries, and will display its unique features, the city’s investment environment and its achievements in economy, science, technology, culture, tourism and so on.
2. The Commodity Trade Theme
Commodities will be exhibited according to categories, while commodities from the same country (region) and under the same category will likely be arranged as a group. Commodities can be categorized by the following 5 sectors:
a). Machinery & Equipments, which focus on autos & motorcycles and their related fittings, food processing & packing machinery, printing machinery, farm machinery, sewing machinery, engineering machinery and power-actuated machinery.
b). Electronics & Electrical Appliances, which focus on household appliances, switches of low voltage, lights & their ornaments, and IT products.
c). Hardwares & Construction Materials, which focus on small hardware, construction and decorative materials and sanitary ware.
d). Light Industrial Products & Handicrafts, which focus on handicrafts, plastic products, furniture and bicycles.
d). Agricultural Products & Foods, focus on “Early Harvest” products which constitute a large trade volume between China and ASEAN countries, including fruits, vegetables, aquatic products, grain products and special grain foods, etc.
3. The Investment & Cooperation Theme
The theme will cover promotion on projects investment or cooperation on international economic cooperation and on partnership of advanced and practical techniques, etc.
Projects Promotion focuses on cities and various economic & technological development zones. The theme serves to introduce the investment policies and environment of different countries, release investment information and establish project partnership.
International Economic Cooperation focuses on the characteristic of the ‘going global’ strategy of Chinese enterprises, carrying through the international project contracting, labor service cooperation, overseas export processing cooperation, resources exploitation, agriculture cooperation, marketing analysis, project assessment and relative financing services.
Advanced and Practical Techniques will demonstrate the latest but useful techniques achievements, and undertaking investment and business negotiation. These will serve the further technical cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
4. The Tourism Theme
This theme serves to introduce the ‘cities of charm’ of the China-ASEAN countries, and display the hotel facilities and tourist attraction.
III. Booth & Rental
1. Booth Specification
Each standard booth takes up a space of 9 square meters (3m x 3m) with one fascia board, one three-side panel (there are two fascia boards and one two-side panel at the turning corner of the passage), one table, two chairs, two lamps, one power plug (500W), one trash can and specially carpeted floor.
The rental rate of raw space is calculated based on a minimum area of 36 square meters, without any equipment furnished accordingly.
2. Rental
Prices are quoted in RMB for domestic exhibitors, and in USD for overseas exhibitors.
A). For Member States of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area:
● Standard Booth: US$ 1,200/each, or RMB10,000/each(For agricultural products: US$ 720/each, or RMB6,000/each)
● Indoor Raw Space: US$ 120/㎡, or RMB1,000/㎡(For agricultural products: US$ 72/㎡, or RMB600/㎡)
● Outdoor Raw Space: US$ 60/㎡, or RMB500/㎡
B). For Non-Member States of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area:
● Standard Booth: US$ 1,800/each
Indoor Raw Space: US$ 180/㎡
Outdoor Raw Space: US$ 90/㎡

IV. Participation
Closing Date for Application: July 31, 2005.
1. How to Attend the Expo as an Exhibitor
Enterprises to be present at the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo will mainly be organized by the sponsors of China and ASEAN countries, and by chambers of commerce or agencies of different countries, or sign up directly with the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
2. Requirments
Prospective exhibitors at the Expo should have legal business qualifications in country of registration; should not infringe the intellectual property rights; are not permitted to display fake products; are not allowed to resell exhibition booths; and are not allowed to sell exhibits on the spot by retail.
The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat reserves the right to cancel the qualification of the enterprise to the Expo in case of its violation of the above regulations and rules.
3. Application Process
Contact the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat for the Registration Form (refer to Annex 4), or download this form from www.caexpo.org. Duplication of this form is acceptable.
Fill out the Registration Form (for prospective exhibitors), and then fax or mail it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat. Or, complete the Registration Form (for prospective exhibitors) online and submit it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
V. Booth Confirmation & Rental Payment
Final Date for Booth Confirmation: August 31, 2005
1. Booth Confirmation
Upon receipt of the application form, the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat will confirm it in written form and arrange for exhibition booths accordingly.
If confirmation of the booths applied is not received until September 30, 2005, log into the official website of the Expo or call the exposition service hotline (+86-771-96123) for enquiry.
2. Booth rental payment
Upon receipt of the booth confirmation from the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, both domestic and overseas organizations and/or individuals are required to pay the relative booth rental to the designated A/C specified in this bulletin before the deadline.
No reservation by the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat for confirmed booths which are not paid before the deadline.
For cancellation of the confirmed and paid booths, exhibitors can claim back 100% booth rental on the condition of notifying the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat 90 days before the Opening Ceremony, and confirmed by the Secretariat; only 50% booth rental back if the notification is 60 days before the Opening Ceremony; and no rental will be returned if the notification is 30 days before the Opening Ceremony.
VI. How to Attend the Expo as a Visitor or Purchaser

Purchasers attending the 2nd Expo will mainly be organized by Sponsors of China and ASEAN countries, and by chambers of commerce or agencies of different countries, or sign up directly with the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
2. Application Process
Contact the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat for the Registration Form (refer to Annex 5), or download it from www.caexpo.org. Duplication of this form is acceptable.
Fill out the Registration Form (for Prospective Purchasers and Visitors of the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo) and fax or mail it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat. Or, complete the Registration Form (for Prospective Purchasers and Visitors of the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo) online, and directly submit it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat will forward the Invitation to the exhibitor upon receipt of the Form submitted.
Participants may apply free Expo Passes by the issued invitations (each invitation is good for three persons) and their validated identifications.
