Motif: CCEF aims at opening up Chinese convention and exhibition industry and create a platform for strategic cooperation and participation between Chinese and foreign enterprises. CCEF will also assist international convention and exhibition companies to seek market entry opportunities to China and at the same time provide international exposure for local Chinese companies. The major task is to accelerate the internationalization, industrialization, modernization of this industry, bring the market mechanism into full play and in the meantime through the exhibition activities and festival events to stimulate the development of related industries like manufacturing, commercial communication, city construction, Business culture tourism, transportation, boarding and catering and so on.
The Rapid Development and Great Potential of
China’s Convention and Exhibition market
China has witnessed the rapid development of the convention and exhibition industry in these years. Statistics show that 3298 trade conventions and exhibitions were held in China in the year 2003; the number of stadiums for hosting exhibitions has reached 212, the total area has reached 6 million square meters. It is expected that in 2005, the total revue of the convention and exhibition industry would exceed RMB 11 billion, and at the same time, other industries like tourism and advertising would also gain a profit about RMB 100 billion. Furthermore, the annual increasing rate of the expansion of China’s convention and exhibition industry is among 20% to 40%.
The convention and exhibition industry has already established in China’s Zhujiang Delta, Changjiang Delta, Huaihai-Bohai Delta, Northeast and Middle West regions. Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou are three leading cities of China in developing convention and exhibition industry. .It is estimated that the convention and exhibition industry would undergo a rapid and constant development and China is expected to be the convention and exhibition-hosting center in Asia-Pacific region.
About CCEF
The First China Convention and Exhibition Forum was held in Beijing in September 2003, which was co-organized by Ministry of Commerce, P.R.C(MOFCOM). China Council for the Promotion of International Trade(CCPIT), China Economic Daily with the theme as “City and Convention & Exhibition”. minister assistant Huang Hai of MOFCOM and vice president Gao Yan of CCPIT presented on the forum and gave important speeches .16 vice mayors from exhibition cities of China mainland gave wonderful speeches on the forum respectively. 8 senior experts put forward in-depth analysis on the development of convention and exhibition industry and 22 state trade associations took part in the forum. The successful grand meeting enforced the influence of convention and exhibition industry on the whole society, promoted the transmission and further deepened the conception of exhibition-hosting environment, increased the communication between the industry and government. Therefore, it played an important role in promoting the development of Chinese convention and exhibition industry.
As the regulatory body of China’s convention and exhibition industry, Ministry of Commerce, PRC would host “The Second China Convention and Exhibition Forum” (CCEF) on November 28-29, 2005 in Beijing International Convention Center in association with Beijing Municipal Government and China Economic Daily. The theme of this forum is to promote the industrialization and internationalization of China’s convention and exhibition industry.
This forum aims at promoting the healthy, orderly and steady development of China’s convention and exhibition industry, accelerating the internationalization, industrialization, modernization of this industry, and further bringing the market mechanism into full play.

The invitations have been also sent out to 17 mayors of internationally famous convention and exhibition-hosting cities and more than 100 enterprises.
