Bulletin of the 2nd China-ASAEN Expo

The China-ASEAN Expo, proposed by His Excellency Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and co-sponsored by China and the 10 ASEAN countries, is a great national and international event of economy and commerce to be held annually in Nanning, China in November.
The 2nd China-ASEAN Expo will be held on November 3-6, 2005. Here issued is the bulletin in this regard:
Venue & Scope
Venue: Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center, Guangxi, People’s Republic of China
Scope: The main building covers a net exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, which accommodates 15 exhibition pavilions of different sizes, capable of offering 3,000 international standard booths (see Annex 2 for details). Out-door net space takes over 26,000 square meters, enough to offer 500 to 1,000 international standard booths (see Annex 3 for details).
Pavilions & Contents
The Expo will cover the following five pavilions: the national pavilion, the commodity trade pavilion, the investment pavilion , the tourism pavilion, and the human resource exploration pavilion.
The National Pavilion
The National Pavilion of the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo will focus on specific promotion for the “cities of attraction” in China and the ASEAN countries. Each of the above countries will select a typical city to demonstrate its comprehensive features and achievements in trade, tourism, investment, science & technology, and cultural development.
The Commodity Trade Pavilion
Commodities will be exhibited according to categories, while commodities from the same country (region) and under the same category will likely be arranged as a group. Commodities can be categorized by the following 8 sectors: machinery & equipments, auto(motorcycle) & related fittings, household appliances, electronic & IT products, hardware & construction materials, chemical products, light industry products & handicrafts, and agriculture products and foods.
The Investment Pavilion
The pavilion serves to introduce the investment policies and environment of different countries, release investment information and establish project partnership so as to enhance the regional capacity to attract international capitals. The expositions will focus on cities, economic & technological development zones, hi-tech development zones, with major contents involving investment projects and international project contracting.
The Tourism Pavilion
The pavilion serves to display the beautiful natural sceneries, historical relics, colorful national cultures of the ASEAN countries, with a focus on promotion of scenic spots, exhibition of tourism facilities, invitation of tourism projects and other related tourism services.
The Human Resource Exploration Pavilion
The pavilion serves to demonstrate educational achievements of different countries, undertake talks and negotiations on human resource cooperation projects, and enhance the exchange and cooperation of these countries in this regard.
Booth & Rental
Booth Specification
Each standard booth takes up 9 square meters of area (3m x 3m), and is furnished with one fascia board, one three-side panel (there are two fascia boards and one two-side panel at the turning corner of the passage), one table, two chairs, two lamps, one power plug (500W), one trash can and specially carpeted floor.
The rental rate of net space is calculated based on a minimum area of 36 square meters, without any equipment furnished accordingly.
Rental
Prices are quoted in RMB in Mainland China, but in USD outside Mainland China.
For Countries in China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA)
Standard booth: USD$ 1,200/each, or RMB¥10,000/each
(For agriculture products: USD$ 720/each, or RMB¥6,000/each)
Indoor net space: USD$ 120/㎡, or RMB¥1,000/㎡
(For agriculture products: USD$ 72/㎡, or RMB¥600/㎡)
Outdoor net space: USD$ 60/㎡, or RMB¥500/㎡
For Countries (Regions) outside CAFTA
Standard booth: USD$ 1,800/each
Indoor net space: USD$ 180/㎡
Outdoor net space: USD$ 90/㎡

How to Attend the Expo as an Exhibitor
Enterprises to be present at the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo will mainly be organized by the Sponsors of China-ASEAN countries, and by chambers of commerce or agencies of different countries/regions. Enterprises could sign up directly with the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
Requirments
Prospective exhibitors at the Expo should have legal business qualifications in country of registration; should not infringe the intellectual property rights; are not permitted to display fake products; are not allowed to resell exhibition booths, and to sell by retail exhibits on the spot on the non-public days (November 3-5).
The China-ASEAN Secretariat reserves the right to cancel the qualification of the enterprise to participate in the Expo in case of its violation of the above regulations and rules.
Process
Contact the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat for the Registration Form (refer to Annex 4), or download this form from www.caexpo.org. Duplication of this form is acceptable.
Fill out the Registration Form (for prospective exhibitors), and fax or mail it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat. Or, complete the Registration Form (for prospective exhibitors) online and submit it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
Booth Confirmation & Pay Rental
Booth Confirmation Deadline: August 31, 2005
Booth Confirmation
Upon receipt of the application, the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat will confirm it and arrange for exhibition booths accordingly.
If prospective exhibitors do not receive confirmation of the booths applied until September 30, 2005, they should log into the official website of the Expo or call the exposition service hotline (+86-771-96123) for enquiry.
Booth rental payment
Upon receipt of the booth confirmation from the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, overseas organizations and/or individuals should pay the relative booth rental to the designated A/C specified in this bulletin before the deadline.
The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat will not reserve the booths confirmed if the organizations and/or individuals do not pay the booth rental before the deadline.
How to Attend the Expo as a Visitor or Purchaser
Purchasers to be present at the 2nd Expo will mainly be organized by the Sponsors of China-ASEAN countries, and by chambers of commerce or agencies of different countries, or sign up directly with the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.

Contact the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat to get the Registration Form (refer to Annex 5), or download it from www.caexpo.org. Duplication of this form is acceptable.
Fill out the Registration Form (for Prospective Purchasers and Visitors of the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo) and fax or mail it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat. Or, complete the Registration Form (for Prospective Purchasers and Visitors of the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo) online, and directly submit it to the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat.
The China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat will forward the Invitation upon receipt of the Form submitted.
Purchasers from countries and regions outside Mainland China may acquire the Expo Passes free of charge by the issued invitations (each invitation is good for three persons) together with their validated identification.

Annex 1: Remarkable Success Has Been Achieved at the 1st China-ASEAN Expo
Ⅰ. The 1st China-ASEAN Expo has become one of the large-scale exhibitions in China.
During the 1st China-ASEAN Expo, more than 2500 enterprises enrolled and applied for 4400 booths available. Finally, 1505 enterprises were confirmed to attend the 1st China-ASEAN Expo as exhibitors, taking over 2506 standard booths, a net space of 500,000 square meters. The Expo attracted 516 enterprises from 10 ASEAN countries, and other countries and/or regions of the world to come as exhibitors for 757 booths, accounting for 30.2% of the total exhibition booths. Thereby, the 1st China-ASEAN Expo has become one of the large-scale exhibitions in China.
Ⅱ. Fruitful Results of Economy and Trade Have Been Yielded
With active participation and support of various parties, fruitful results have been yielded during the 4-day Expo: USD$ 1.084 billion in the trade volume of import and export; 129 foreign investment cooperation projects signed, with a total volume of USD$ 4.978 billion; USD$ 355 million in tourism cooperation projects signed and USD$ 1.404 million in tourist products concluded.
Ⅲ. The image and position of a national and international exposition has been established
Madame Wu Yi, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Boungnang Vorachith, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lt-General Soe Win, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Phinij Jarusombu, Vice Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Pham Gia Khiem,Vice Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, cut the ribbon to open the 1st China-ASEAN Expo and toured the pavillions. H.E. Mr. Bo Xilai, Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, and ministers of the Ministries of Commerce (Industry) of 10 ASEAN countires, including H.E. Pehin Dato Abdul Rahman Taib, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources of Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Mr. Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister and Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, H.E. MM. Mari Elka Pangestu, Minister of Trade of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Soulivong Daravong, Minister of Trade of Laos, H.E. Y.B. Tan Sri Datuk Bernard Giluk Dompok, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, H.E. U Tin Winn, Minister of Economic Cooperation of Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Thomas G Aquino, Deputy Secretary of Trade and Industry of Philippines, H.E. Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Vice Minister of Commerce of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Truong Dinh Tuyen, Minister of Trade of Vietnam, and H.E. Mr. Ong Keng Yong, Secretary General of the ASEAN Secretariat, were present at the 1st China-ASEAN Expo.As for the participants of the 1st China-ASEAN Expo, the number of the exhibitors from home and abroad exceeded 8000, while that of the purchasers reached over 10, 000 (including over 4000 from outside Mainland China). Domestic and overseas visitors to the Expo amounted to over 350,000. The full support and great attention given by governments of 11 countries, enterprises and people from all sectors of society have enhanced the influence of the Expo, thus establishing the unique position of the Expo in both national and international expositions.
