Number of people visiting the Shanghai Expo Exhibition Center on Huihai Road M hit more than 15,000 during the three-day May Day holiday and May 4 Youth Day.
The center, opened on May 1 to mark the two-year countdown of Shanghai Expo 2010, was also packed with people passionate with the event today, though most of the people have started working after the three-day short holiday.
Among the visitors yesterday, more than 1,600 youth are specially organized to pay visit to the center instead of enjoying the half-day mini break that government offers to people under 29 years old.
The center received 11,500 people during the May Day holiday and on May 2, the visitors mounted more than 5,000.
“The reservation for the following three days -- May 5, 6, and 7 -- has already full,”said Li Ruixia, operation director of the exhibition center, yesterday.
The three reservation hotlines haven’t stop ringing for four days, Li said.
The organizers set the ceiling limit of visitor number at 3,000 daily, while local residents were so enthusiastic that they allowed more entries on Friday, the organizers said.
All visitors are required to make reservations three days in advance. English reservation service is now available by calling 6335-3336 or 6335-3338.
The organizers are expecting more than 1 million people to visit the exhibition on the third floor of Hong Kong New World Tower on HuaiHai Road M. The center will be open daily from 9am to 6pm.
The center will close one day before World Expo Shanghai opens on May 1, 2010.
The 1,000-square-meter center introduces various aspects of Shanghai Expo, China's participation at past Expos as well as the 150-year-plus history of World Expo with multimedia videos and electronic books.
